The meeting, according to sources, was called as the city experienced a warm February this year and the department needs to be prepared, keeping in mind the rise in power demand. In February, both maximum and minimum temperatures showed a rise compared to the previous year.

Sood, in the meeting, directed implementation of the Summer Action Plan 2025 in Delhi with immediate effect. The minister assured that the Delhi government is committed to ensuring smooth and uninterrupted power supply in the city.

“The stakeholders were instructed to begin immediate implementation of the Summer Action Plan 2025…The power department and all stakeholders were instructed to take immediate and effective measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply as the summer season approaches," an official statement announced on Sunday.

The power minister issued directives to ensure smooth and regular power supply in Delhi during the summer season.

“The power minister instructed officials to ensure that if any power grid fails in any part of Delhi, repairs must be completed within a maximum of five minutes to prevent any disruption in electricity supply to residents," the statement added.

Sood will be holding review meetings of the power department every 15 days to assess the progress.

Last month, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had attacked the BJP for “pushing the city into a power crisis, with hours-long electricity cuts disrupting daily life". The party also cited posts from social media accounts where people raised the issue of long power cuts.
