The Border Security Force (BSF) will intensify its focus on the districts of Malda, Murshidabad, and North Dinajpur in West Bengal due to significant demographic changes, News18 has learnt. According to the last census, these districts have a higher minority population, with experts attributing the demographic shift to illegal infiltration from Bangladesh, allegedly encouraged by the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Sources told News18 that the BSF will now place special emphasis on these three districts. Previously, BSF patrolled within one kilometre of the international border. However, they have now been instructed to extend their patrols closer to the boundary. Also, for the first time, BSF is planning to construct permanent structures near small rivulets that overflow during the monsoon, making year-round vigilance possible. An officer explained to News18 that these structures would aid in maintaining security during all seasons.
