Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Reliance Foundation’s Vantara wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre in Gujarat’s Jamnagar. While taking a tour of the 3500-acre facility, PM Modi fed animals and also watched how animals are treated at Vantara’s wildlife hospital.

Reliance Foundation’s Vantara wildlife initiative has garnered widespread acclaim, with prominent figures from Bollywood and the corporate world voicing their admiration for its mission. Spearheaded by Anant Ambani, Director on the boards of Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation, Vantara is a pioneering program dedicated to rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating animals in distress, both within India and internationally.

    Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh took to Instagram to commend Anant Ambani’s dedication, hailing the launch of Vantara as a momentous occasion for animal welfare. He praised Anant’s compassionate nature, emphasising the significance of the initiative. “A watershed moment in animal welfare. Anant, you have the largest and kindest heart," Ranveer wrote on Instagram after the launch of Vantara in February last year.

    Echoing these sentiments, actress Kareena Kapoor lauded Anant Ambani’s vision and highlighted Vantara’s remarkable achievements. “Vantara has tirelessly rescued over 200 elephants and thousands of other animals, reptiles, and birds, committing to animal welfare. Bravo, Anant and team, on creating such an amazing initiative," Kareena wrote.

    She revealed the touching story of Tarzan, an elephant whose vision was restored through a successful cataract surgery performed by Vantara’s skilled team.

    Filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his gratitude towards Anant Ambani for establishing Vantara, underscoring the Ambani family’s deep-rooted love for animals and wildlife. He praised Anant’s unwavering commitment to the cause, describing Vantara as a testament to his genuine compassion.

    Actress Sara Ali Khan shared her support for Vantara, emphasising its significant contribution to global conservation efforts. Actress Karisma Kapoor, along with Radhika Merchant, commended the initiative’s vision and hard work, recognising its impact on the lives of countless animals.

    Vantara’s endeavors extend beyond rescue and rehabilitation. The initiative last year also launched “Superstars of Vantara," a captivating show featuring renowned celebrities like Neena Gupta, Sanjay Dutt, and Anil Kapoor interacting with Vantara’s diverse wildlife. This unique series underscores the sanctuary’s commitment to wildlife conservation and fosters a deeper understanding of these magnificent creatures.

    Last year, on World Environment Day, Vantara unveiled an impactful video campaign featuring a star-studded lineup, including acclaimed actors Ajay Devgn and Bhumi Pednekar, rising stars Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma, digital sensation Kusha Kapila, and cricket icon KL Rahul. Each celebrity eloquently conveyed their dedication to environmental preservation, inspiring viewers to make a difference.

      Spanning 3,000 acres within the Green Belt of Reliance’s Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat, Vantara aspires to be a global leader in conservation. Collaborating with top experts in animal care, Vantara has transformed this vast expanse into a lush and enriching habitat that replicates the natural environment of the rescued animals.

      With a dedicated staff of over 2,100 individuals, the rescue and rehabilitation center has achieved remarkable milestones. They have rescued approximately 200 leopards across India, many of whom were victims of road accidents or human-wildlife conflicts. Over 1,000 crocodiles were rescued from an overcrowded facility in Tamil Nadu, while other rescues involved animals facing threats in hunting lodges in foreign countries, those at risk of euthanasia, and distressed animals from facilities across the world. Vantara’s unwavering commitment to animal welfare continues to inspire and make a lasting impact on the lives of animals in need.
