Union Home Minister Amit Shah has appealed to Naxal cadre to surrender amidst repeated successes for security forces in anti-Maoist operations.
“My appeal to those with arms is that weapons and violence cannot bring change; only peace and development can," Shah said, soon after DRG, Chhattisgarh Police, and CRPF eliminated at least 17 Naxals in a joint operation.

In a post on X, the home minister said: “Another strike on Naxalism! Our security agencies have neutralised 17 Naxalites and recovered a massive cache of automatic weapons in an operation in Sukma. Under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, we are resolved to eradicate Naxalism before the 31st of March 2026."
Security Review
Shah is likely to travel to Raipur on April 4 to review the security situation in Bastar. HMO officials told CNN-News18 that he may first visit Dantewada and then Raipur on a two-day tour. “A security review meeting has been called in Raipur on the 5th with all stakeholders for states and central paramilitary forces. This will be a crucial meeting to decide the strategy for the final push to achieve the 2026 target," the official said.

Officials said a spike has been noticed in human intelligence too, which is a welcome change for the security grid.
More Than 130 Naxals Killed In 2025
As per Chhattisgarh Police data, 133 Naxals have been killed till date, including the 16 bodies recovered on Saturday.

As per Bastar Police, an anti-Naxal operation was launched at around 8 am on the Sukma-Dantewada border. An encounter began soon after at least 17 Naxals were killed. One DRG and one CRPF jawan received bullet injuries and were evacuated for further treatment. Meanwhile, in next-door Bijapur, an IED explosion severely injured a woman villager. Preliminary information suggested one of her legs was severed in the explosion. Local administration was rushing her to Jagdalpur for further treatment when reports last came in.
A large quantity of AK-47, SLR, INSAS rifles, .303 rifles, rocket launcher, BGL launcher and explosives were recovered from the encounter site at Kerlapal police station area in Sukma.
