Gujarat Rains: Bharuch Flooded, NDRF Carries Out Rescue Op; Schools Closed Amid Red Alert
Since Sunday, more than 9,613 people have been relocated, while 207 have been rescued from Narmada, Bharuch, Vadodara, Dahod and Panchmahal districts in Gujarat

Gujarat has been witnessing heavy rainfall since Sunday, leading to floods in various districts of the state. Bharuch has been the worst-affected by floods, with videos of waterlogged roads going viral on social media.
Bharuch, located close to river Narmada, has been bearing the brunt of the river flowing above the danger mark. NDRF teams reached Bharuch to conduct rescue operations, and safely evacuated 16 people.

Life in low-lying towns near Narmada came to a standstill, with no transportation facility available. Since Sunday, more than 9,613 people have been relocated, while 207 have been rescued from Narmada, Bharuch, Vadodara, Dahod and Panchmahal districts in Gujarat.
Schools, Colleges Closed
Given the flood situation, the Gujarat government ordered the closure of schools, colleges and ITIs in Narmada district.
Swollen Rivers
The gates of the dam were unlatch to a height of 5.60 metres for a safe rise to the full reservoir level (FRL) of 138.68 metres as the Sardar Sarovar dam.
Currently, the water level stands at 137.32 metres, said officials at the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL).
Water level in the Sardar Sarovar Dam was reduced by 10 lakh cusecs after 23 gates of the dam were opened.
Other rivers like Orsang, Heran, Mahi, Meshri and Panam were also swollen and flowing above their normal range because of incessant rainfall.

IMD Advisory
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued red alert for seven districts — Panchmahal, Dahod, Kheda, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha. As per the IMD, Junagarh, Porbandar and Gir Somnath may received moderate rainfall.
Light rain may occur in Ahmedabad, Mahesana, Gandhinagar, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Khera, Anand, Vadodara, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Amreli, Botad, Bhavnagar, Kutch and in Diu.
