The video has sparked outrage among supporters of the Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction, leading to protests and legal action against the comedian.
Following the video’s release, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) MLA Murji Patel said he had lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the MIDC Police Station against Kamra.
Speaking to reporters, Murji Patel said, “We have filed an FIR against Kunal Kamra for his comments against our leader and Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. We have demanded quick action against him."
Patel also said that Kamra should apologise to Shinde within two days, failing which, “The Shiv Sainiks will not let him move freely in Mumbai. If he is seen anywhere in public, we will paint his face black. We will take up this issue in the assembly and request our state’s Home Minister to order action against him as soon as possible, he said.

Later, an FIR was also filed against Shiv Sena workers for vandalising the studio.
According to IANS, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Rahul Narain Kanal and over 20 others were booked by Khar Police following their protest at The Habitat Club in Mumbai.
Reacting to the controversy, Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde strongly condemned Kamra’s comments and warned that he should be prepared to face backlash.
“He will receive the Shiv Sena-style response, as no party worker will tolerate such statements against our leader," Hegde said.
The warning has further escalated tensions, with Kamra yet to respond publicly to the growing outrage.
Reacting to the Shinde-led Shiv Sena Vandalism, Shiv Sena UBT leader Aditya Thackeray said, “Mindhe’s coward gang breaks the comedy show stage where comedian @kunalkamra88 put out a song on eknath mindhe which was 100% true. Only an insecure coward would react to a song by someone." (sic).
(Thackeray always uses the Marathi word ‘Mindhe’ while referring to Eknath Shinde to taunt him, as it means subservient.)
Targeting CM and Home Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis over the Kunal Kamra issue, Shiv Sena UBT MP, Sanjay Raut wrote on X, “Kunal Kamra is a well-known writer and stand-up comedian. When Kunal wrote a satirical song about Maharashtra politics, the Shinde gang got offended. Their people vandaliSed Kamra’s studio. Devendra Ji, you are a weak Home Minister!"
Also commenting to the vandalism by Shiv Sena workers, Congress leader Atul Londhe said, “I do not support the vandalism. You are holding a Constitutional post. Your sentiments get easily hurt, you should have approached the police and got a complaint registered. Nobody can be given the right to vandalise in a legal system."
Kunal Kamra is no stranger to controversy. Known for his unfiltered political satire, he has often clashed with politicians and their supporters.
His YouTube channel features multiple videos where he critiques political leaders, journalists, and public figures. However, this time, the backlash seems more severe, with legal action and physical protests adding to the pressure.
It remains to be seen whether Kamra will issue a clarification or stand by his remarks, but for now, the controversy has ignited yet another debate on the fine line between freedom of expression and political sensitivity.
