As part of the campaign, the PM has requested citizens to buy local products and post a selfie with the product or maker on the app.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote: “This Diwali, let us celebrate India’s entrepreneurial and creative spirit with #VocalForLocal threads on NaMo app. https://narendramodi.in/vocal4local Buy products which have been made locally and then post a selfie with the product or the maker on the NaMo App. Invite your friends and family to join your thread and spread the spirit of positivity. Let us use the power of digital media to support local talent, encourage the creativity of fellow Indians and keep our traditions thriving."

PM Modi also recently posted an ad featuring Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna for the campaign. Reprising their ‘Anupamaa’ avatars as the titular character and Anuj Kapadia respectively, this ‘vocal for local’ ad asks people to also give local brands a chance instead of always going big and after branded products. “The vocal for local movement is getting great momentum across the country," the prime minister added.

The PM said he will share some of these pictures on social media to inspire others to be vocal for local, he said.

India is becoming the biggest manufacturing hub of the world," he said.
