The man, whose identity is yet to be revealed, had attacked Khan during a scuffle over a robbery bid at the actor’s residence. He had been absconding since then, with reports emerging that he had fled towards the Vasai-Nallasopara area.
While his entry into the building remains a point of suspicion, his exit was captured on the CCTV camera installed on the staircase. He was last spotted by the CCTV at the Bandra station bridge. Since he was not seen in any other footage, the police believed that he may have boarded the train and travelled towards the Vasai area.
The police had constituted around 20 teams who were assigned to arrest the absconding attacker.
They questioned the local auto drivers near the actor’s residence and Bandra railway station to ascertain if he had used a vehicle after escaping the building.
The officials monitored the CCTV footage of other areas too to get a trace of the attacker.
Khan underwent surgery during which the doctors removed a 2.5-inch knife from his spine. He was shifted to the ICU for monitoring and is out of danger.
Sources said that if he continues to show signs of improvement, he will soon be moved to the special room where the Mumbai Police are likely to record his statement.
