Shard From Steel Glass Placed Over Firecracker Kills 10-Year-Old in Kanpur Dehat
Kanpur Rural Superintendent of Police stated that the investigation has revealed the names of two boys involved in the incident, and a forensic team has recovered shards of steel glass from the scene

In a shocking incident in Kanpur Dehat, a 10-year-old boy died after being hit in the throat by a shard of steel glass which was placed over a firecracker to amplify its boom.
The incident occurred in Sithmara Market located in the Rura Police Station area on November 2, a day after Diwali.

Aryan, the 10-year-old son of Anil Chakraborty, a resident of Sithmara in Rura, had gone to play with his friends about 1km from his home. Two boys were setting off firecrackers nearby. According to one of them, they had been setting off ‘sutli bombs’ in the market, and his friend placed a steel glass on top of it to amplify the sound. When the firecracker exploded, the glass shattered, sending a piece flying towards Aryan.
The shard hit the boy in the throat and onlookers initially thought he was having a seizure, but upon closer inspection, they noticed blood oozing out of his throat. The boys immediately informed Aryan’s family, who rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Aryan was a student in Class 4 and was the youngest of three siblings. His father rears goats, while his mother is a housewife. The family alleged that Aryan’s death was a murder and not an accident.
Kanpur Rural Superintendent of Police said the investigation has revealed the names of two boys involved in the incident, and a forensic team has recovered shards of steel glass from the scene, which have been sent for analysis.
