'Stop Reading History On WhatsApp': Raj Thackeray Reacts To Aurangzeb Tomb Row
Referring to the newly released film Chhaava, which depicts the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Raj Thackeray said that those who provoke people for their selfish political aspirations are not concerned with history.

Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday called for unity among Marathi people amid the tensions in Maharashtra over Aurangzeb’s tomb. He asked people to read history from books and not from WhatsApp.
“Don’t we want to let the world know that these people sought to destroy the Marathas but were wiped out instead? Stop reading history on WhatsApp and rather delve into history books," he said, addressing his annual Gudhi Padwa rally in Mumbai.

Thackeray’s remarks came in response to demands from right-wing groups calling for the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. The row has sparked protests and violence in Nagpur earlier this month.
“We have forgotten the real issues of the present time. Hindus who feel awakened after a movie are of no use. Did you learn about Sambhaji Maharaj’s sacrifice because of Vicky Kaushal and about Aurangazeb because of Akshaye Khanna," he asked.
Calling for unity among the Marathi population, Thackeray said, “Look at how Tamil Nadu fights for its pride when the central government tries to impose Hindi," he said. “But we are a surrendered society. I have not seen anyone as confused as the Marathi manoos ever."
Referring to the newly released film Chhaava, which depicts the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was tortured and executed by Aurangzeb, he mentioned that Aurangzeb was born in Gujarat’s Dahod. Those who provoke people for their selfish political aspirations are not concerned with history, he said.
“Religion should remain within the four walls of your home. A Hindu identifies as a Hindu only when Muslims take to the streets or during riots; otherwise, Hindus are divided by caste," he said.
Launching a scathing attack on the Mahayuti government, he claimed that the BJP-led government’s popular ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin’ scheme would be scrapped. “I told you earlier, but you believed them and not me," he said.
The Mahayuti government has come under fire from opposition parties for not increasing the monthly financial assistance under the Ladki Bahin programme from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100, despite the promise made in their election manifesto before last year’s assembly polls.
