The police have recovered the body of a woman with her throat slit from her home in Jalithya village, under the jurisdiction of Kotulpur police station in West Bengal’s Bankura district.

According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Purnima Rana. Neighbours shared that Purnima Rana frequently had quarrels with her daughter-in-law, Rinku Rana. The disagreements between the two over various domestic matters had become a daily occurrence.

    On Monday morning, another argument erupted between Purnima and Rinku. At that time, no one else was present in the house except the mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law. Later in the afternoon, Purnima’s husband, Sushil Rana, returned home to find her lying face down on the floor. After receiving no response upon calling out to her, he turned her over and discovered a deep wound on her throat. Locals claimed that Rinku Rana slit her mother-in-law’s throat during a dispute.

      The police’s suspicions regarding Rinku Rana were heightened by the statements of the locals. Subsequently, the police arrested Rinku Rana on Monday based on the complaint lodged by the deceased’s family.

      On Tuesday, Rinku Rana was presented before the Bishnupur Subdistrict Court by officers from Kotulpur police station. The deceased’s daughter has demanded that the accused receive exemplary punishment.
