TTD Official Accused Of Misappropriating Foreign Donations At Chennai Temple, Suspended
According to reports, TTD senior assistant, identified as Krishna Kumar, was involved in mishandling the foreign currency collected at the temple.

A serious breach of trust came into limelight at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Srivari Temple in Chennai, after a senior employee was found guilty of misappropriating foreign currency donations from the temple’s hundi (offering box).
According to reports, TTD senior assistant, identified as Krishna Kumar, was involved in mishandling the foreign currency collected at the temple. Investigations revealed that he had been systematically embezzling foreign currency during the hundi counting process. Last year alone, he allegedly siphoned off foreign currency worth Rs 6 lakh in a single month.

As per the temple’s protocols, all foreign currency collected in the hundi must be deposited in the Tirumala Parakamani (temple treasury) on the 1st of every month. However, discrepancies in the foreign currency count raised suspicion, prompting the TTD Vigilance Wing to launch an investigation. Their inquiry confirmed Kumar’s involvement in financial irregularities.
Following the findings, the Vigilance Wing submitted a detailed report to TTD Executive Officer (EO) Shyamala Rao. Taking prompt action, Rao issued an order suspending Kumar from service with immediate effect.
The incident has raised concerns about transparency in the temple’s fund management and has prompted the TTD administration to strengthen security and monitoring measures in the counting process.
