Waqf (Amendment) Bill Highlights: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday accused the opposition parties of spreading misconception over the Waqf (Amendment Bill) 2025.
As the Budget Session of the Parliament inches closer to its end on April 4, the government took up the Waqf (Amendment) Bill for consideration and passage in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
The House witnessed a heated debate between the treasury and the Opposition benches as the latter said that all INDIA bloc parties are united to “defeat the legislation”.
Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju brought a motion to take up the Bill with amendments. A debate on the matter is being held. Rijiju opened the debate on the Bill and explained the provisions of the legislation.
The Bill was first introduced last year and was subsequently referred to a joint parliamentary committee.

No Place in World Safer Than India for Minorities: Rijiju in Reply on Waqf Bill
There is no place in the world safer than India for minorities and they are safe because the majority is entirely secular, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Wednesday.
Replying to the nearly 12-hour long debate on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Rijiju, who is the Union Minorities Affairs Minister, said even minuscule minority communities like the Parsis are safe in India and all minorities here live with pride.
