Since the installation of Lord Rama’s idol in the newly built Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the city has seen an overwhelming influx of devotees from across the country and beyond. In order to cater to the large number of devotees, the Ram Mandir Trust has introduced a new policy that only trust-operated wheelchairs will be allowed to enter the temple premises.

In a move to ensure the comfort and convenience of elderly and disabled devotees, the Ram Mandir Trust has implemented a free wheelchair service. However, the trust has also set certain regulations. Only wheelchairs provided by the trust will be permitted on temple grounds. Private wheelchairs are not allowed within the temple complex.

Additionally, there is a new dress code for those assisting wheelchair-bound devotees. The individuals who operate the wheelchairs will be required to wear saffron-coloured clothing, making them easily identifiable within the temple premises. This measure aims to streamline the process and prevent any inconvenience during the visit.

How to Book a Wheelchair for Your Visit

Devotees requiring a wheelchair can avail of the service by following a straightforward process:

    1. Visit the Tirtha Yatri Seva Kendra: Head to the counter at the Tirtha Yatri Seva Kendra to book your wheelchair.
    2. Provide Aadhar Card: You will need to present your Aadhar card for registration.
    3. Trained Driver Provided: A trained wheelchair driver will be assigned to assist you.
    4. Convenience Fee: A nominal convenience fee of Rs 150 will be charged for the driver’s assistance.

    Purpose of the Dress Code

Ram Mandir Trust administrator Gopal Rao explained that the introduction of the saffron dress code for wheelchair operators is to ensure they are easily identifiable. This will help prevent confusion and ensure a smooth experience for the devotees, especially during busy periods.

    A Major Step Towards Accessibility

This initiative is particularly beneficial for elderly and disabled devotees who face challenges while walking. As the number of pilgrims visiting Ayodhya continues to rise, the trust has made this arrangement to ensure that everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, can enjoy a hassle-free darshan of Lord Rama.
