According to astrological beliefs, several rare coincidences are occurring today, September 17, enhancing its importance. Hindus are observing Vishwakarma Puja, Anant Chaturdashi and the commencement of Pitru Paksha on this day. Today is also the last day of the 9-day Ganesh Puja, with Ganpati Visarjan taking place across the nation.

According to Ayodhya-based astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram, today is a significant day in Sanatan Dharma as many important fasts and festivals are being celebrated, including Vishwakarma Puja, Ganesh Visarjan, Anant Chaturdashi and the beginning of Pitru Paksha. For Pitru Paksha, grand preparations have been made in Bihar’s Gaya as Hindus from across the nation gather to perform rituals during the Pitru Paksha. Due to all these events, today is considered a holy day for Hindu devotees throughout the nation.

    Vishwakarma Puja

    Each year Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated in the month of Bhadrapad with great fervour across the country. On this day, Lord Vishwakarma, who is believed to be the 7th son of Lord Brahma, is worshipped with all rituals and traditions. Today, the auspicious time for this puja is between 6:30 AM to 6:16 PM. On this day, people worship their iron tools, machines and craftmanship.

    According to Hindu mythology, Anant Chaturdashi is also an auspicious day. Every year, on the 14th day of bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) of the Bhadrapada month, Hindus celebrate Anant Chaudas by worshiping Lord Vishnu. The auspicious time for Ganesh Visarjan today is from 3:19 PM to 4:51 PM.
