Amit Tandon opens up about his latest track Attach, marking a shift from “bubble gum Punjabi” to a more authentic, heartfelt sound.

From stealing hearts on-screen to setting the mood with soulful melodies, Amit Tandon is no stranger to reinvention. With Attach, he’s taken a refreshing leap—moving from “bubble gum Punjabi" beats to something deeper, more authentic, and undeniably romantic. A song perfect for first dates, heartfelt proposals, and maybe even an impromptu family singalong (as one fan hilariously experienced), Attach has resonated far beyond just a catchy tune.
But Amit isn’t stopping there. With a packed 2025 lineup, including a mix of Punjabi romance, Hindi ballads, rap, and surprise collaborations, he’s ready to push musical boundaries. In this candid chat, Amit spills on the creative process behind Attach, the rose-petal mishaps on set, his undying love for Delhi street food, and why he believes the best is yet to come.

Here are the excerpts:
‘Attach’ was a shift from your earlier Punjabi songs, as you mentioned moving away from ‘bubble gum Punjabi’ to more authentic expressions. What inspired this change in approach?
In general, I gained a comfort and understanding of the language and certain nuances of Punjabi diction songs and want to really connect with the hardcore Punjabi audience as well as the general Indian audience too.
The song beautifully conveyed love and commitment. Did you draw inspiration from personal experiences or stories around you while creating it?
The song to me expressed commitment and love that could be conveyed to any form of a relationship, be it boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, or even between friends wanting to take the next step in the relationship. We all have had such experiences where we want the ones we love to know how we feel about them.
Working with Sarrb, known for hits like Kamlee and Zulfaan, must have been exciting. How did your collaboration shape the song’s final composition?
Sarrb is multi-talented, and our first association was a success. I am excited to work on our next track together, and in fact, we just completed it. The audience will love this one even more.
The music video was set against a stunning Greek and Portuguese-style bungalow. How did you and the team decide on this unique visual aesthetic for the song?
The location honestly could have been anywhere, and I feel we could have conveyed the emotion necessary, but shooting in Delhi, we had this as a nice option, so we used it to the fullest.
‘Attach’ was described as a song perfect for proposals and first dates. Did you come across any memorable fan reactions where they actually used the song for such moments?
One fan we met at a college fest I performed at said she had heard the song on loop for 24 hours straight, and now her whole family is hooked to the song—so much so that even her parents are singing it to each other. Definitely an aww moment.
How was your experience working with Simran Nerurkar? What made her the perfect choice for this love story?
Simran has an innocence to her face, and her eyes are very expressive. She can pull off the girl-next-door look but also look like the girl one would desire to be with—a rare quality.
The video captured intimate moments of love and a heartfelt proposal. Were there any behind-the-scenes moments or bloopers that stood out during filming?
During the proposal scene, I remember when the rose petals were being dropped in bunches from the top onto us, I ended up with rose petals in my mouth and all over my body. Roses are nice, but they don’t taste very good.
Mayank Goswami directed the video with a romantic and cinematic touch. How did his vision enhance the storytelling of Attach?
Mayank and I worked on our third song together, and I enjoy his creativity and spontaneous nature even while shooting, as it makes the process more interesting.
Filming in New Delhi must have had its own charm. What were some of the most memorable or challenging aspects of shooting in that location?
When in Delhi, avoiding the amazing chole bhature, gol gappas, and kachoris is always super tough. You can literally smell the food in Delhi.
You have been known for your versatility across musical genres. How did your journey in Punjabi music begin, and how has it evolved over time?
I feel like I have only scratched the surface, and with some of my upcoming songs this year, you will see many shades of my vocals and visuals in videos.
Was there a particular moment in your career when you realized music was your true calling?
I love acting and singing equally. Music gives me peace and allows my creative juices to flow, but bringing out a character on screen is also very fulfilling.
Looking back at your musical career, which song do you feel has had the most impact on your audience?
I never look back, as for me, the best is yet to come.
Now that Attach is out, what’s next for you? Are there any new collaborations or genres you are planning to explore?
My plan for 2025 is to release at least 10 to 12 originals—from romantic Punjabi to rap, Hindi ballads, my collaboration with Sarrb again, and a few surprise collaborations as well. This year will be very interesting, to say the least.
