Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick are back with more secrets, schemes and designer drama in Another Simple Favor, Paul Feig’s stylish sequel to the 2018 cult hit A Simple Favor. This time, the stakes and the couture are even higher, as the chaos crosses continents.
The film, which had its world premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, sees Lively’s enigmatic Emily Nelson getting remarried, this time to a wealthy Italian businessman, with the lavish ceremony taking place in Capri. Naturally, Anna Kendrick’s Stephanie Smothers is on the guest list—and so is trouble.

The official synopsis teases, “Stephanie and Emily reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square."
Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Elizabeth Perkins, Michele Morrone, Alex Newell, Elena Sofia Ricci, Henry Golding, and Allison Janney also star in this deliciously chaotic adventure, which promises to blend mob drama, mystery, and dark comedy with all the flair of an Italian fashion house.
Feig, who also directed the original, spent three years developing the sequel’s script alongside returning writer Jessica Sharzer and co-writer Laeta Kalogridis. The result? A self-aware, genre-blending thriller that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Critics have described it as “utter nonsense" in the best way possible—an outrageous romp that’s just as much about the hats Blake Lively wears as it is about the mystery unraveling around her.
In true Simple Favor fashion, Another Simple Favor is poised to be an entertaining mix of twists, betrayals and friendship goals laced with champagne and passive-aggressive toasts.
