AR Rahman And Saira Banu Have Not Decided On Kids’ Custody Yet, Lawyer Reveals: 'Some Of Them...'
AR Rahman and Saira Banu tied the knot in 1995. They have three children together – two daughters, Khatija and Rahima, and a son named Ameen Rahman.

Even though AR Rahman and Saira Banu have announced their separation, they have not yet decided on custody of their children. In a recent interview, Saira’s divorce lawyer, Vandana Shah, revealed the same when asked whether the kids would be living with their mother or father.
“That’s not decided yet… It is yet to be decided… But some of them are adults, they are free to choose who they stay with," she told Vicky Lalwani on his YouTube channel.

Besides this, Vandana did not rule out reconciliation between the two. “I have not said that reconciliation is not possible. I am an eternal optimist, and I always talk about love and romance. The joint statement is quite clear. It talks about pain and separation. It’s a long marriage and a lot of thought has gone into coming to this decision, but nowhere have I said that reconciliation is not possible," she added.
The lawyer was also asked about the alimony attached to the case. She refused to comment on it and defended Saira saying she is not a money-minded person.
AR Rahman and Saira Banu tied the knot in 1995. They have three children together – two daughters, Khatija and Rahima, and a son named Ameen Rahman. The couple confirmed their separation earlier this month through a joint statement.
“After many years of marriage, Mrs Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr AR Rahman. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time," the statement read.
Later, AR Rahman also addressed the separation on X (formerly Twitter) and shared a poetic and heartfelt message: “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter (sic)."
