Did Jennie’s Manager Just Shade BLACKPINK’s Other Members? Here's Why Fans Think So
The review showered praise on Jennie’s latest album, Ruby, calling it not just the best release from a BLACKPINK soloist but one of the strongest solo albums in K-Pop overall.

A recent discussion on Pann has sparked debate after BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s alleged manager was caught engaging with posts that some say cast a shadow over the other members of the group. The controversy took off when social media users noticed that Jeremy Erlich, who is reportedly managing Jennie, had retweeted a review by Joshua Minsoo Kim, a respected Pitchfork critic. “Wow, Jennie’s manager is openly putting down the other BLACKPINK members. Lol," a user reportedly commented.
The review showered praise on Jennie’s latest album, Ruby, calling it not just the best release from a BLACKPINK soloist but one of the strongest solo albums in K-Pop overall. It highlighted the album’s high production quality, with big names like Dem Jointz, Mike Will Made It and El Guincho contributing to its sound.

“It’s actually crazy how good JENNIE’s Ruby is. It’s not just the best album from a BLACKPINK soloist, but one of the best albums from a K-pop soloist ever (esp on a non-Big 4 label). It makes sense though – production from Dem Jointz, Mike Will Made It, El Guincho… like c’mon," read a comment.
The Pann post that went viral included screenshots linking Erlich to Jennie, showing that he had repeatedly shared her content on his account. A work profile screenshot further supported claims that Erlich was indeed managing Jennie, informs Koreaboo.
On the surface, a simple retweet wouldn’t typically raise eyebrows. But the issue? The same critic who praised Jennie’s album had previously given Lisa’s album a scathing review, calling it a “bad album" and even questioning her singing skills. This led some to believe that Erlich, by endorsing one review, was indirectly aligning himself with the negative opinions about Lisa’s work.
“I must retract my statement. Lillies have informed me that LISA enjoys singing and is actually just bad at it! I have full faith that her next album will get at least a 5.3, she just needs to work on her hooks, lyricism, rapping, track sequencing, beat selection, originality," read another comment.
The post blew up but opinions on the matter were split. Some felt the backlash was unnecessary, arguing that the retweet was nothing more than a show of support for Jennie’s work. They insisted that Erlich wasn’t responsible for Kim’s negative review of Lisa and that people were reading too much into it.
Others, however, believed a manager should maintain professionalism and steer clear of actions that could fuel unnecessary drama, especially in a fandom as passionate as BLACKPINK’s.
“How is that a statement putting down the other members? Lol. The account that got retweeted is from a well-known critic, and from their perspective, Jennie’s album was the best among the BLACKPINK members. Lol. Seriously, some people don’t understand English at all. They’re just looking for something to complain about because Jennie’s album is doing so well," asked a fan.
“Having someone like that as her manager must be reassuring," said a fan while another one wrote, “I find it more annoying that Jennie’s manager retweeted that review. It just seems like they’re trying to stir things up."
As per Koreaboo, neither Jennie nor her manager have made any official comment on the ongoing issue.
