ChatGPT’s new image generator is quickly getting attention for its ability to create stunning visuals in the beloved Studio Ghibli anime style. Social media users are transforming photos of their pets, family and friends into anime inspired by Hayao Miyazaki films. Bollywood and Hollywood fans, too, have joined in the fun by recreating famous classics like Sholay, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Hera Pheri, The Godfather and Jurassic Park into Ghibli-style animation. Looking at the stunning results, the internet can’t get enough of it.

From Gabbar and Thakur’s intense face-off in Sholay to Raj and Simran’s unforgettable train scene in DDLJ, fans are loving the animated twist. Even Bhool Bhulaiyaa’s Chote Pandit and the beloved trio Raju, Baburao and Shyam from Hera Pheri have been transformed into adorable Ghibli style characters. Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Chaiyya Chaiyya song has also received a magical Miyazaki-inspired.

Earlier, making the announcement of the feature on X, Sam Altman wrote, “We are launching a new thing today, images in ChatGPT. Two things to say about it: 1. it’s an incredible technology/product. I remember seeing some of the first images come out of this model and having a hard time because they were really made by AI. We think people will love it, and we are excited to see the resulting creativity."
“This represents a new high water mark for us in allowing creative freedom. People are going to create some really amazing stuff and some stuff that may offend people, what we’d like to aim for is that the tool doesn’t create offensive stuff unless you want it to, in which case within reason it does. As we talk about in our model spec, we think putting this intellectual freedom and control in the hands of users is the right thing to do, but we will observe how it goes and listen to society. We think respecting the very wide bounds society will eventually choose to set for AI is the right thing to do, and increasingly important as we get closer to AGI," Altman added.

However, GPT-4o is different because it can generate images with more accuracy, by following specific instructions and its built in knowledge. It can also modify uploaded images or use them as a reference to create something new.
