Genelia Deshmukh Honoured For Her Plant-Based Meat Venture

Genelia Deshmukh, who has always been an advocate of sustainable living, co-founded Imagine Foods, a plant-based meat brand with her husband, Riteish Deshmukh in 2020. Recently, she also collaborated with Starbucks India through her band to initiate a new plant-based meat menu. For her contribution to the plant-based food space, Genelia was honoured by Smriti Irani at the MEWA India 2025 conclave. The 3-day event currently ongoing in Mumbai discusses sustainability and honours-conscious innovation.
During the event, Genelia shared her insights on the growing need to support brands that focus on sustainability and positive environmental impact. She passionately spoke about Imagine Food’s mission to revolutionise the way people experience food. Her brand aims to offer plant-based meat alternatives that combine taste and sustainability, making it easier for people to consume their favourite foods while reducing their environmental footprint.

Talking about her initiative, she said, “We believe that great food shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. Our goal is to provide delicious, nutritious, and sustainable alternatives that let people enjoy the flavours they love while making a positive impact."
Sharing her views about the platform, she added, “MEWA India 2025 is a fantastic platform to showcase the future of food, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this movement."
With their latest collaboration with Starbucks, Imagine Foods initiated a new menu in Mumbai outlets including pav bhaji-pull apart, reverse vada pav and kheema danish. Announcing the news with a video showing the new dishes, Genelia wrote, “That’s what sharing looks like when you try the Mumbai special menu."

The 3-day conclave returned to Mumbai for its second edition, bringing together the world’s leading players in the nuts and dry fruits industry. Organised by the Nuts & Dry Fruits Council of India, the event is taking place at the Jio World Convention Centre from February 12 to 14. It includes panel discussions and a trade show. With over 300 exhibitors from countries like the United States, Chile, Iran, Turkey, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Australia, MEWA 2025 promises to be a landmark event for business-to-business networking and trade expansion.
