During their headlining debut at Coachella 2025, American punk band Green Day made a political statement. They tweaked the lyrics of their 2004 song ‘Jesus Of Suburbia’ and made a reference to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, during their performance on Saturday night. Green Day showed solidarity with Palestine, and a video of their performance has gone viral on social media. Apart from Green Day, headliners for Coachella 2025 also included Lady Gaga, Post Malone.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong altered the lyrics of ‘Jesus of Suburbia’ to reference the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. He sang, “Runnin’ away from pain, like the kids from Palestine / Tales from another broken home." The original song lyrics from the track were, “Runnin’ away from pain when you’ve been victimized."     This marks Green Day’s first ever performance at Coachella. The band shared pictures from their performance on Instagram, and wrote, “Our first time at @Coachella and it did not disappoint!! Thank you for bringing the HEAT out there in the desert Let’s do it all over again next weekend, yeah ?!" Reacting to this post, one fan wrote, “Thank you for allowing me to live my ultimate dream last night. I will never forget it. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH," while another one commented, “Absolute legends!." Apart from Jesus Of Suburbia, Green Day also sang other hit songs such as American Idiot, Holiday, and more.

    Meanwhile, the 24th edition of the music festival will stretch over two weekends. The first weekend was April 11 to 13, while the second is scheduled for April 18 to April 20.

    Lady Gaga over left the Coachella audience mesmerized with her performance at the music festival. She reprised her song ‘Shallow’ from ‘A Star Is Born’ during the first night of Coachella 2025. Before her performance, she shared, " You know, since the last time I played Coachella, I’ve had some songs come out…And we filmed a movie, a movie that changed my life, helped me say something I hadn’t said before."
