Gwyneth Paltrow Reacts To Filming Intimate Scenes With Timothee Chalamet: ‘I’m 109 years old, You’re 14’
During the conversation, the 52-year-old actress admitted that she did not know that “there’s something called an intimacy coordinator.”

After years of being away from the big screens, Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow is all set to make her much-awaited return with Marty Supreme, a sports drama directed by Josh Safdie. The film, starring her alongside Timothee Chalamet, is her first on-screen role since Avengers: Endgame. Recently, the Academy Award-winning actress sat for an interview with Vanity Fair, where she spoke at length about her upcoming film.
During the conversation, Gwyneth candidly spoke about her experience of filming intimate scenes with Timothee, who is 23 years younger than her. “I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie. There’s a lot—a lot," she said while talking about the scenes that went viral last year. In October 2024, Gwyneth and Timothee were pictured on the set of Marty Supreme in Central Park, NYC. In the pictures, the two actors shared a passionate kiss while standing in what seemed to be an alleyway.

Speaking about her character in the upcoming film, the 52-year-old actress said that her character is a table tennis WAG. “This woman who is married to someone who is in the Ping-Pong mafia, as it were," she said, pointing out that her character then gets romantically involved with Timothee’s Marty. Gwyneth added, “She’s had a pretty tough life, and I think he breathes life back into her, but it’s kind of transactional for them both."
Furthermore, the Emma actress also spoke about the concept of intimacy coordinators. For Gwyneth, the idea that “there’s now something called an intimacy coordinator, which I did not know existed." Hailing from an era in Hollywood when such precautions were not standard practice, Gwyneth recalled a particular scene during their shoot.
“I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on,’" she remarked, adding that she and Timothee felt comfortable enough in their performances that they asked the intimacy coordinator to step back. She explained, “We said, ‘I think we’re good. You can step a little bit back.’ I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but…if someone is like, ‘Okay, and then he’s going to put his hand here.’ I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that."
Speaking about the intimate scenes with Timothee, who is over two decades younger than her, Gwyneth nonchalantly remarked, “I was like, ‘Okay, great. I’m 109 years old. You’re 14.’"
Marty Supreme is scheduled to be released in theatres on Christmas 2025.
