Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, son of actor Anil Kapoor, is currently on could nine as his action thriller film Thar has been named one of the Best Westerns in recent times by a Hollywood portal, Collider. Helmed by Raj Singh Chaudhary, the film has been mentioned alongside renowned Hollywood projects including Idris Elba’s The Harder They Fall, Pedro Pascal’s Strange Way of Life and Riz Ahmed’s The Sisters Brothers.

Expressing his joy, the actor shared a screenshot of the article along with its link and wrote, “On a list here with films starring Riz Ahmed, Idris Elba, Joaquin Pheonix…Thar is still being written about and referred to as one of the best westerns in recent times."

He added, “No amount of PR and perception can dismiss the longevity and impact of a piece of work. Raj Singh Chaudhary, we pulled it off."

Released in 2022 on Netflix, the film also featured Anil Kapoor, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Akshay Oberoi and late actor Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles and received decent responses from fans and critics alike.

Set in the 1980s in the Thar desert of Rajasthan, the film follows the life of Siddharth (played by Harsh) as he travels to the village of Munabao to find work. Later on, he crosses paths with Inspector Surekha Singh (Anil Kapoor) while investigating a series of violent killings in the village.

Meanwhile, talking about the actor’s other projects, Harsh Varrdhan made his acting debut with the film Mirzya, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The 2016 film had all the elements of success such as poetry dialogues, a classic love story and a soundtrack of Shan-Ehsaan-Loy. Despite that, it was a box-office failure.

After the poor performance of his debut film, the actor took a short break from acting and returned to the screens with Bhavesh Joshi Superhero in 2018. The film received positive responses from fans and critics alike. He was also seen in a short appearance role in Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap’s AK vs AK.

Harsh Varrdhan is reportedly gearing up for an upcoming role in the biographical film based on the life of Olympic Gold Medal winner Abhinav Bindra. An official announcement of the film is still awaited.
