Television’s iconic soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi might just be gearing up for a much-anticipated return, and the buzz is already building. While reports suggest that Ektaa Kapoor is actively working on reviving the legendary series with a possible official announcement expected in June 2025, fans are especially excited about the rumored return of original stars Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay as Tulsi and Mihir.

Now, actor Hiten Tejwani—who played the fan-favorite character Karan Virani in the original series—has spoken up about the potential reboot. In a recent chat with Hindustan Times, Hiten shared that he hasn’t been approached yet, but the idea of the show’s return is thrilling. “Definitely! I would surely want to do it," the actor said when asked if he would like to reprise his role. “This whole idea has always been with Ektaa and her team. It’s their property, and it’s up to them how they want to bring it back. So, whenever they call, we’ll definitely work it out."

Hiten also revealed that this isn’t the first time a revival has been discussed. “I believe six or seven years ago, there were discussions to bring it back, but Smriti was busy at that time, and it didn’t materialise," he recalled.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which first aired in 2000 and ran until 2008, changed the landscape of Indian television. With its larger-than-life characters, melodrama, and emotional arcs, it became a cultural phenomenon. The show catapulted several actors to stardom and continues to enjoy a nostalgic fanbase even today.

If the show does return—and if Smriti Irani joins the cast—it would mark her comeback to acting after nearly a decade. Her last acting appearance was in 2016, in an episode of Ek Thhi Naayka, also produced by Ektaa Kapoor.

While the official word from Balaji Telefilms is still awaited, one thing is clear: the excitement around Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2.0 is real, and fans, along with its original stars, are ready for the nostalgia ride.
