During the promotion of ‘Jewel Thief,’ Nikita Dutta addressed the controversy surrounding the 2019 blockbuster film ‘Kabir Singh’ and its impact on her career as well as the careers of Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani.

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Nikita was asked if the controversy surrounding ‘Kabir Singh’ had worked in favour of Shahid and Kiara.
“It depends on what you are doing with it. As actors, we have done our job. Our characters should be taken as they are, without delving into the philosophical or moral implications," she responded.
Nikita highlighted that Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani have both benefited greatly from the film in their own ways, irrespective of their stance on the controversial themes of the movie.
‘Kabir Singh,’ a remake of the Telugu film ‘Arjun Reddy’ starring Vijay Deverakonda, received mixed reactions from audiences and critics alike. While it was a commercial success, many criticised the film for promoting toxic masculinity and violence against women.
