The late singer KK is known for his soulful voice and numerous hits including Zara Sa song from Jannat. His untimely departure left a huge void in the musical industry. He enjoyed a huge fan following. Well, the singer in his lifetime also judged a reality show Fame Gurukul in which Arijit Singh was also a contestant. Yes, you are reading right. And once he also revealed what advice he gave to the singer.

KK always believed that Arijit Singh was super talented. “I had told him (and there were other contestants too) to treat the show as a stepping stone. Once you’re out in the real world, you must wait for the right opportunity and not burn yourself out. And Arijit did have his share of struggle till he got his rightful breaks," he told ETimes in 2017.

KK was born on August 23, 1968, in Delhi. He studied at Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, and initially worked in marketing before fully committing to music.

    In 1994, he sent a demo tape to well-known Indian artists, which led to his first performances in commercial jingles. KK’s official entry into Hindi cinema came in 1999 with the song “Tadap Tadap" from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

    That same year, he released his debut album, Pal, featuring hit songs that quickly brought him into the spotlight. Over the years, KK achieved remarkable success, recording around 3,500 jingles in 11 languages. His versatility and captivating voice made him a sought-after artist in Indian cinema.

    KK received six Filmfare Award nominations and won two Star Screen Awards, among numerous other accolades. He is celebrated as one of India’s most gifted playback singers.

    To honour his legacy, a statue was erected in Kolkata, where he performed his final concert.
