Sometimes, the end doesn’t come with a bang— it comes quietly, then all at once. For SECRET NUMBER, a fourth-generation K-pop group once bursting with promise and energy, the past 48 hours have felt like watching a house of cards collapse in slow motion. The group first debuted in 2020 with five members and quickly gained a following for its catchy sound and magnetic stage presence. Just a year later, they welcomed two new additions to the lineup, signalling growth. But that momentum slowed when Denise departed in 2022, trimming them back down to six. Still, fans stayed hopeful, until now.

On April 2, Vine Entertainment released a formal announcement. Lea, one of the original members, would no longer be part of SECRET NUMBER. Her exclusive contract had officially ended.

“Hello, This is Vine Entertainment. We sincerely thank all the fans who always send love and support to SECRET NUMBER. The exclusive contract period with Léa, who showcased her talent as a member of SECRET NUMBER, has come to an end as of April 2, 2025. First, we would like to express our gratitude to Léa for her dedicated efforts for the fans as a member of SECRET NUMBER. Although her activities with SECRET NUMBER have concluded, we will sincerely support Léa’s future, where she will continue to shine. We kindly ask for your continued warm encouragement and support for her from all our fans as well. Additionally, we would like to share some news regarding the future activities of SECRET NUMBER," read the official statement.

According to Koreaboo, statement further said, “Discussions regarding the group and individual activities of SECRET NUMBER members, as well as contract extensions, have taken a considerable amount of time. As a result, both group and individual activities have been delayed. Going forward, SECRET NUMBER will return with a new image, and we will do our best to present a refreshed version of the group to our fans. We kindly ask for your continued love and support. Thank you."

At first, fans took the news in stride. A contract expiry. A warm send-off. Nothing too alarming. Groups change lineups all the time. But things shifted rapidly. Within just 24 hours, three more members – Minji, Jinny and Dita – each came forward with their own personal announcements: they, too, were leaving SECRET NUMBER.

Just like that, four members were gone in under two days. The group was now down to just two – Soodam and Zuu.

Vine Entertainment has not shared any follow-up statements. No clarity about the group’s fate. And that vacuum of information has only fuelled speculation among fans, many of whom now believe disbandment is on the horizon, even if it hasn’t been officially confirmed, informs Koreaboo.

Emotions are understandably high. For some fans, the departure of so many members in such a short span felt like losing a part of their youth. One longtime supporter wrote how thankful they were for “the whole years full of happiness," while another described the group as “so talented and funny and real and soo sooo fan-focused." That last bit, about how present and caring SECRET NUMBER was with their fandom, seemed to be a common thread across many responses.

Others, however, expressed more frustration than nostalgia. One fan commented that it was “not surprising that the company completely wasted them," a sentiment that’s been echoed repeatedly in online spaces.
