L2 Empuraan is out and has become a hit among Mohanlal‘s fans as the film caters to his mass appeal. The film takes Stephen’s character to the next level, revealing him as an international crime syndicate overlord, Khureshi Ab’raam. While the first part only had Stephen as a political kingmaker, it ended with a hint that he is someone bigger than what he projects himself to be. In L2, the film reveals he is a coveted international criminal who runs a crime syndicate.

However, even towards the end of the film, the origin of the mysterious character is not revealed. On the other hand, L2, like Lucifer, ends with a teaser of the second part that promises to finally let the cat out of the bag. What particularly got the attention of the fans was the glimpse of a younger version of Mohanlal in the teaser. The third part is set in Mumbai, where Mohanlal’s character is seen fighting with a bunch of goons in a busy fish market. Initially, the camera doesn’t reveal the complete face of the youngster. Yet, the silhouette is enough to invoke the image of the vintage Mohanlal with his wavy hairstyle. As the fight comes to an end, the camera finally focuses on the face, and for a brief moment, we get to see the face of the youngster, which looks like a mix-mash of graphically de-aged Mohanlal and his son Pranav.

This has left fans wondering if Pranav will is playing the younger version of Stephen in the third part. If the speculations turn out to be true, it will add to the star power of Lucifer universe, which welcomed Prithviraj to its longlist of stars in the second part.

L2: Empuraan has so far collected Rs 13 crore from the Indian box office on Day 1, according to the early estimates by Sacnilk. The film has amassed Rs 80 crore from pre-booking, which is unprecedented for a Malayalam film.

Directed by Prithviraj and written by Murali Gopy, L2: Empuraan also has Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Abhimanyu Singh in lead roles, with music by Deepak Dev. The film is currently running in theatres.
