Mithun Chakraborty's Son Reveals Salman Khan’s Words On Sultan Set: 'He Isn’t Even Getting A Chance...'
Mimoh Chakraborty opens up about Salman Khan’s unwavering support through the ups and downs of his career.

In an industry known for its highs and lows, many actors have credited Salman Khan for standing by them when things got tough. One such name is Mimoh Chakraborty, son of Bollywood legend Mithun Chakraborty. In a recent interview with Digital Commentary, Mimoh shared a deeply personal and heartfelt account of how Salman Khan supported him at the start of his career—and beyond.
Mimoh recalled how Salman didn’t just offer moral support, but actively backed his debut film Jimmy in 2008. “Salman bhai has helped me a lot. He has always been there like an elder brother," he said. “He suggested to my dad that the teaser of Jimmy should be played in theatres with his film Partner. That was his idea. And the title Jimmy was actually given by Sohail Khan."

Although Partner went on to become a box office hit, Jimmy flopped. Mimoh described the emotional rollercoaster he experienced in those weeks. “I went to the theatre with my whole family to watch Partner. When the teaser for Jimmy came on, people went silent for a moment, and then started clapping and whistling. I thought I had arrived. I was 24. That moment felt like I had become a star," he said.
But the dream was short-lived. “By Friday afternoon after the film released, everything stopped—phone calls, payments, everything. I felt like my world had crashed. I didn’t step out of the house for a year."
Despite the setback, Salman didn’t turn his back. Mimoh recalled how the superstar lifted his spirits years later while filming Sultan. “He called my mom and said, ‘Send him to the set.’ I went and spent the day with him. He pointed at me and told his assistant director, ‘You think you’re struggling? At least you have a chance. Look at him—he’s not even getting the opportunity to struggle.’ That line hit me hard. He told me to hang in there, and said he would stand by me when the time was right."
Mimoh also mentioned similar words of encouragement from Abhishek Bachchan: “Don’t listen to anyone. Remember who you are."
Following Jimmy, Mimoh appeared in films like Haunted – 3D, Loot, and Rocky, but none managed to make a mark at the box office. Most recently, he featured in the Netflix web series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, where he continues his journey in the industry—resilient and still chasing the dream.
