The News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2025 took place on Thursday, March 20. Samantha Ruth Prabhu took home the Best Actor OTT (Female) award for her performance in Citadel: Honey Bunny. The series, helmed by Raj and DK, starred the actor alongside Varun Dhawan.
Samantha was nominated alongside a stellar line-up of actors including Manisha Koirala for Heeramandi, Konkona Sen Sharma for Killer Soup, Sonakshi Sinha for Heeramandi, Ananya Panday for Call Me Bae and Aditi Rao Hydari for Heeramandi.

Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Indian version of the Prime Video series, saw Samantha in a power-packed new avatar. The actor, battling autoimmune disease Myositis, once shared how she almost “passed out" while undergoing rigorous training for her role in the Raj & DK series. In the show, Samantha plays an agent on a dangerous, undercover mission. Her partner-in-crime is actor Varun Dhawan, who plays her husband. In Citadel, she reunites with The Family Man director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, who had featured her as the main antagonist in season two.
While accepting her honour, Samantha said, “It’s an honour to be here in such esteemed company and I mean I’ve all the other nominees that you know actors that I really look up to so this truly is an honour for me actually just completing the series was an award enough for me considering the circumstances so I would like to dedicate this award to the people who believed in me Raj, DK, Sita and Varun thank you for putting up with me the patience that all of you show to complete the show I know it wasn’t easy I’m extremely extremely grateful all I did was show up and you guys really took care of me on this one so I am forever grateful thank you."
2025 is a busy year for Samantha. She will next be seen in Maa Inti Bangaram, which is also produced by her. Apart from this, she is working with Raj & DK in Rakt Brahmand.
