Nitesh Tiwari Says Amar Akbar Anthony And Deewar Can't Be Remade Today: 'Actors Log Ready Nahi Honge'
Nitesh Tiwari is making a Ramayana film with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.

Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari is preparing to create a Ramayana film featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. In an interview with Komal Nahta for his series Game Changers, Nitesh discussed his career and filmmaking journey, explaining why remaking classics like Amar Akbar Anthony and Deewar is challenging.
When asked which 1970s film he would remake and who he would cast, Nitesh said, “It would either be Amar Akbar Anthony or Deewar. But I don’t think I can cast for it today. Humare actors log ready nahi honge sir. Amar Akbar Anthony aur Deewar aj ki date main banana bohot difficult hai sir. (Our actors won’t get ready. In today’s time, it is very difficult to make Amar Akbar Anthony or Deewar)."

Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) is a popular Bollywood film about three brothers raised in different religions after being separated as children. The movie mixes drama, comedy, and action, with great performances from Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, and Shashi Kapoor. Its message of unity and catchy songs made it a classic.
Meanwhile, Deewar (1975) is a famous film about two brothers, played by Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, who go down different paths in life—one becomes a criminal, and the other a policeman. The film is known for its powerful dialogues and Amitabh’s iconic role as the “Angry Young Man," making it a key film in Bollywood history.
Nitesh Tiwari, who is currently working with Ranbir Kapoor on the much-anticipated epic Ramayana, recently opened up about the projects he’d be keen to direct next. While fans are eagerly awaiting Ramayana’s release, the filmmaker revealed during the same chat an interesting preference—he would choose directing Animal Park over Mirzapur 4.
Explaining his choice, he shared that while both projects fall into genres he typically wouldn’t venture into, Animal Park was simply more tempting. The key factor? The opportunity to collaborate once again with Ranbir Kapoor. Tiwari said, “I’m choosing the better, more tempting, which allows me to get greater performances out and get to work with somebody who’s very dear to me, Ranbir."
