Actor Puneet Issar, in a recent chat with the YouTube channel Digital Commentary, recalled a tense moment from his personal life. He shared that while he and his wife were at a theatre watching a film, a man refused to stand up during the national anthem played before the screening. Despite an elderly woman at the theatre politely requesting him to show some respect and stand up, the man reportedly refused and responded with the abusive ‘F-word’, asking her not to bother him.

This act of blatant disrespect didn’t sit well with Puneet’s wife, who, in a moment of outrage, ended up slapping the man. The incident escalated quickly and became a major issue at the venue.

Recalling the incident, he said, “Sabne kaha aap is desh mein rehte hain, desh ke nagrik hain, rashtra gaan chal raha hai, aap kyun nahin khade ho rahe hain? Then my wife slapped hoon. Ab wo jo padi usko toh immediately khada ho gaya. Aur phir to sab log toot pade (Everyone said, ‘You live in this country, you are a citizen of this country, the national anthem is playing, why aren’t you standing?’ As soon as my wife slapped him, he immediately stood up. And then everyone started pouncing on him)."

He went on to add, “Upar se aap ek old lady ko gaali de rahe ho." He used the F word. He was slapped not only because he did not stand up, but because he abused an old lady. “Maine apni wife ko roka. Maine kaha, ‘Jo maine karna tha, wo aapne kar diya.'" (I stopped my wife. I said, ‘What I had to do, you have already done.’)
