Richa Chadha has posted a tweet against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. She called them out for the destruction of 400 acres of forest land in the state. For those unaware, Telangana has been witnessing protests over the clearance and auction of biodiversity-rich land in Kancha Gachibowli, which lies within the University of Hyderabad campus.
On Wednesday, April 2, tensions escalated in Telangana as police resorted to lathi charge on University of Hyderabad students and faculty protesting against the forest land auction. Several protestors were also detained during the crackdown.

Reacting to a viral video showing police dragging protestors into a van, actress Richa Chadha took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Tagging him, she wrote, “Hey @RahulGandhi. Too much mohabbat. Have some mohabbat for nature also."
She also directed her criticism at Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy by tagging his official X account.

Dia Mirza also opposed the land auction, urging authorities to take action and protect the forest. Known for her strong advocacy for environmental causes, Dia emphasized the importance of preserving biodiversity.

Recently, tensions ran high at the University of Hyderabad as a scuffle erupted between students and police after authorities barricaded the east campus, where excavators were clearing forested land. Defiant protestors chanted slogans like “Police go back," “Awaaz Do Hum Ek Hain," and “Ladenge Jeetenge" while trying to breach the barricades.
As the protests intensified, police resorted to a lathi charge on students and faculty members. Undeterred, the UoH Students’ Union called for an indefinite strike, staging an overnight protest at the administration building.
Students revealed that the university registrar was set to meet with them on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the contentious land issue.

Despite growing protests, the Telangana government has proceeded with clearing 400 acres of forest land in Kancha Gachibowli, Rangareddy district. The land is set to be auctioned, with the government eyeing a massive revenue boost of ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 crore. The proposed plan includes the development of world-class IT parks and urban spaces.
