Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama has already sent waves of excitement through the industry. A film that brings together Robert Pattinson and Zendaya? That’s enough to get fans buzzing. Their on-screen collaboration feels like an intriguing mix—his brooding intensity meeting her effortless presence. But while audiences are eager to see their chemistry on screen, Pattinson recently gave a glimpse into their dynamic off-screen. And it turns out that Zendaya’s influence goes beyond just sharing scenes.
Speaking to Premiere FR, Pattinson admitted that he had gotten completely lost in his own head while preparing for a particular scene in The Drama. Unable to shake off the obsessive need to decode every layer of the dialogue, he did what any overwhelmed person would do – he called a friend, Zendaya. “I spoke for two hours," he revealed, explaining how he poured all his doubts and anxieties into that phone call.
For three days, he had been agonising over the scene. Three days of thinking, dissecting and second-guessing. And then, Zendaya—cool, composed and probably amused at the whole ordeal – brought him back to reality. “After a while, very calmly, she finally made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say," he explained. Simple. Obvious. And yet, exactly what he needed to hear.
That moment not only saved Pattinson from himself but also offered a glimpse into the dynamic between the two actors. With The Drama already being one of the most anticipated films of the year, their off-screen camaraderie adds another layer of intrigue.
At present, Pattinson is continuing his reign in cinema with Mickey 17, a sci-fi thriller that’s already proving to be a hit at the box office. Meanwhile, Zendaya was last seen in the romantic sports drama Challengers in 2024. The actress was also one of the producers of the film.
