Salim Khan On His Relationship With Salma And Helen: 'Had Problems Initially'

Veteran filmmaker Salim Khan was well-known for his memorable action films. Recently, the docu-series Angry Young Men delved into his career with his close aide Javed Akhtar. Interestingly, the series also gave a glimpse into his personal life involving his wives Salma Khan and Helen. Salim Khan was married to Salma Khan. Later on, he fell in love with actress Helen and married her. Over the years, the filmmaker has spoken openly about his relationships with his two wives and the family dynamics. He shared that while it was difficult for everyone at first, they finally got along.
In an interview with DNA, Salim Khan shared, “I’m lucky that I have two wives and that they live in harmony. Never mind if that happened a few years later. My wives are good-looking and now they are ageing gracefully."

In another interview with Zoom, Salim Khan addressed how he broke the news about the relationship with Helen to Salma Khan and his children. Salim Khan shared that he was the first one to tell Salma about the relationship before she found out from any media publications. He noted, “When I told her, she didn’t shake hands with me and told me what a wonderful thing I was doing. Of course, we had problems, but for a very short time. After that, everything was accepted." Speaking about his children’s reaction, Salim Khan stated that they were too young to understand the entire situation. He added, “ told them, ‘I have got another person in my life. I have married her. I do not expect anything from you. I don’t expect you to love her as much as you love your mother, but I want you to give her the same respect.’"
In one of the episodes of the docu-series, Arbaaz Khan stated, “My mother never influenced us to think or say anything against our father. She had her troubles, but she never influenced us to think, ‘Your dad is like this,’ or, ‘This is what he is doing.’ Never."
Salim Khan was married to Salma Khan in 1960 and had four children together- Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and Alivira Khan Agnihotri. He got married to Helen in the 1980s and adopted Arpita Khan.
