Urvashi Rautela and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s dance moves in the song ‘Dabidi Dibidi’ from their recently released film ‘Daaku Maharaaj’ faced massive backlash on social media. Netizens slammed the choreography by Shekhar Master, calling the moves ‘crass’ and ‘vulgar’. Urvashi has now addressed the criticism over the dance moves, saying that the team absolutely didn’t anticipate this kind of a reaction. She said that they thought it would be taken positively, and that they didn’t expect people to talk about the song in this manner.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter India, Urvashi Rautela said that the song Dabidi Dibidi is made for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s fans, and that every lyric is crafted according to their mindset. “When you look at my rehearsal clips, everything went really well. It was like how we usually choreograph for any song. I was working with Master Shekar, with whom I’ve collaborated before this was my fourth time. So it wasn’t like I was shocked or doing something completely out of the ordinary. During rehearsals, everything was smooth and under control. But honestly, everything happened so suddenly that it’s been hard to assess why people are talking about the choreography in this way. We didn’t realise it would be received like this because, during rehearsals, everything went as planned," said Urvashi.

She further added that the way the song was received was surprising for her. She said that it is a peppy, massy song, and that they never anticipated the backlash. “We never expected people to talk about it in this manner. As a team, we truly didn’t anticipate this reaction," she said. Urvashi thought that it would be taken positively. However, she said that she has always kept her identity and professionalism separate. She said that while she embraces constructive criticism, she doesn’t let it overshadow her passion for her work.

The music video of the song Dabidi Dibidi, composed by S Thaman, shows Urvashi Rautela dressed in a crop top and skirt, while Nadamuri Balakrishna is seen hitting her belly button on beats, and pulling her up by her dress. Later in the song, the 64-year-old actor is seen hitting the actress on the rear. Clips from the music video went viral on social media last month, as netizens called out the ‘cringe’ and ‘vulgar’ moves.
