Vikrant Massey Clarifies Retirement Post And Reflects On Family Life: 'Main Kahin Nahi Jaa Raha'

Vikrant Massey, known for his versatile performances and relentless work ethic, recently caused a stir on social media with a cryptic announcement. In a heartfelt post, the actor, who won his first Filmfare Award for his role in 12th Fail (2023), stated that he would meet audiences “one last time" in 2025, “until time deems right." With four consecutive films—Blackout, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, Sector 36, and The Sabarmati Report—releasing this year, fans speculated whether Vikrant was stepping away from acting for good. However, the actor soon clarified that he isn’t retiring but taking a well-deserved break.
Now, Vikrant has opened up about his decision. Speaking in a roundtable discussion with RJ Rohini, he explained that he is physically and mentally exhausted after his recent workload. Reflecting on his career, he stated, “Ab mujhe aisa lag raha hai wahi same cheez main kar raha hun. Standards of good are so low, ki mere hisaab se jo average, below average hai woh logon ke liye good hai." Highlighting the need to protect his creativity, he added, “I want to act for as long as I can. I want to keep that creative thing within me alive. Isiliye maine socha ki this is the right time for me."

Vikrant also shared how his demanding schedule has impacted his personal life, particularly his time with his wife, Sheetal Thakur, and their son, Vardaan, who was born this year. He revealed, “Shaadi ki, biwi ke saath honeymoon pe nahi jaa paaye. Uske saath 3 mahine se zyaada baith nahi paaye. Beta hua, ‘papa’ mere peeth peeche usne kaha, chalna mere peeche shuru kiya, uske daant aaye main dekh nahi paaya. Videos pe, photos pe main usko bada hote hue dekh raha hun." This realization prompted him to prioritize his family and personal well-being. He now plans to take time off to travel, read, and recharge, ensuring he doesn’t burn out. Assuring fans, he concluded, “Main kahin nahi jaa raha yaar."
Despite the impending break, Vikrant remains committed to his ongoing projects. He is currently filming Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, which marks Shanaya Kapoor’s debut in Bollywood.
