Vivek Oberoi Questions Allu Arjun's Arrest Amid Stampede Controversy: 'Bunny, We Know And Love You'
Telugu superstar Allu Arjun’s recent arrest in connection with the tragic stampede at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre has sparked widespread debate. Vivek Oberoi has come forward to defend the Pushpa 2 star.

Telugu superstar Allu Arjun was recently arrested by Telangana Police in connection with the tragic stampede at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre earlier this month. The incident claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman and left her son critically injured, drawing widespread attention. While the Pushpa 2 star has since been granted interim bail, many celebrities have come forward to voice their support for him, including Vivek Oberoi.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Vivek Oberoi shared his perspective, writing, “While any loss of precious life is painful and should be avoided, is it fair to arrest Allu Arjun for this mishap? We all love our fans dearly. I’ve known Allu and his wonderful family for decades. They are law-abiding citizens who have always been patriotic and socially responsible. I personally know what a wonderful human being Allu is, and I’m sure he was deeply saddened by this tragic news."

He continued, “I leave you all with a question: If this same accident had happened at a campaign rally of an important state or national candidate, would the police arrest them? Would they blame them for a law and order issue and treat the governmental figure the way Allu is being treated? Is this fair? I understand the police are doing their duty, but don’t you think the system can be improved to prevent such incidents?"
In his concluding note, Vivek added, “I have full faith in the Indian judiciary and believe justice will be done fairly in this matter. But shouldn’t we strive for a more permanent solution to avoid such pain? As a great nation, shouldn’t we be asking ourselves this question? Bunny, we know and love you for the gentleman you are off-screen, my brother. Praying for you and for the life lost. May God bless all those affected by this tragedy and their families."
Meanwhile, the Telangana High Court has ruled that there was no malafide action associated with Allu Arjun in this case. Granting him interim bail for four weeks, the court offered the actor significant relief, setting a personal bail bond of Rs 50,000.
In court, Allu Arjun’s lawyer argued that the actor neither had the intention nor the knowledge that his visit to Sandhya Theatre during the Pushpa 2 screening would lead to such a tragedy. The lawyer contended that a case of culpable homicide was not applicable, suggesting at most negligence could be considered. He emphasized that criminal intent, such as causing bodily harm, was absent, as the victim’s death resulted from asphyxiation due to the crowd surge, not any deliberate act by the actor.
Drawing a comparison, the lawyer cited the 2017 case against Shah Rukh Khan, who was booked for a stampede at Vadodara railway station during the promotion of Raees. He highlighted that while Shah Rukh was actively involved in promotional activities, Allu Arjun was simply watching the film.
Additionally, Bhaskar, the husband of the deceased woman Revathi, has expressed his willingness to withdraw the case. In his statement, he said, “I am ready to withdraw the case. I was not aware of the arrest, and Allu Arjun has nothing to do with the stampede in which my wife passed away."
