When David Dhawan Asked Huma Qureshi To 'Never Change' Herself
Huma Qureshi recently revealed the advice that David Dhawan gave her after the release of her debut film Gangs of Wasseypur.

Huma Qureshi has left an indelible mark on the audience with her impressive on-screen performances. Despite being in the industry for over a decade and working on a number of projects, the 38-year-old actress is still best known for her debut role in Anurag Kashyap’s film Gangs of Wasseypur. Although she had brief scenes in the film, her impactful acting left a mark in the audience’s minds.
Recently, Huma sat for an interview with Mashable India and recalled meeting the renowned director David Dhawan just after the release of Gangs of Wasseypur. The actress shared that the director was kind enough to share a piece of advice with her. Recalling the moment, she said, “Just after Gangs of Wasseypur, I bumped into David Dhawan at a coffee shop. I was like, ‘Wow, David Dhawan!’ and he walked up to me, and he didn’t need to do that."

Huma continued, “He said, ‘Beta, you are a very good actor. Tereko bohot log bolenge weight lose karle, surgery karle, kuch nahi karna (People will ask you to lose weight, to get surgeries done but don’t do anything)." The actress shared that David Dhawan emphasised that the audience had accepted her as she was, and there was no need to change anything. The director advised her to simply keep on ‘entertaining’ the audience.
David Dhawan’s words left a deep impact on the Badlapur actress’ mind, who in the same conversation, mentioned that she wanted to remember his advice forever. “I was like, ‘That’s really good advice.’ And that coming from industry seniors, when they just randomly meet you and they give you this advice, you just write it down: ‘Yeh bhoolna nahi hai (You shouldn’t forget it)’," she shared.
Apart from sharing this anecdote, Huma also shared her views about body toxicity. The actress mentioned that the “problem" in the country is that no one is happy with how they look. Sharing that most people believe “grass is greener on the other side" theory, Huma said, “If you will get into fixing your nose, you will ruin your chin and so on and so forth. Just let people be. Nobody is supposed to look perfect," and playfully added that many already “hit on" her. That’s why she isn’t interested in getting “more perfect" as that would mean “the end of the world."
Speaking of her work, the actress was last seen in the biopic Tarla, based on the life of Indian chef Tarla Dalal. She will be next seen in Jolly LLB 3.
