Uttam Kumar-Suchitra Sen: Indian cinema's magical couple

Uttam Kumar worked with Suchitra Sen for the first time in 1953 film 'Sharey Chuattar' and the next year the two starred in 'Agni Pariksha'. Since then, there had been no looking back for the onscreen couple.

'Harano Sur' by Ajoy Kar starring Suchitra Sen and Uttam Kumar is one the star duo's best in the history of their pairing. This Bengali film not only established the lore surrounding their everlasting friendship but also helped build them up as a larger-than-life pair on screen and off it.

Who can forget the popular song 'Kemon Hoto Tumi Boloto' from 'Saptapadi'? The song is not just etched in the minds of the fans but the film particularly remembered for Uttam Kumar-Suchitra Sen's pairing.

With films like 'Shap Mochan' (1955), 'Sagarika' (1956) and 'Bipasha' (1962), the two turned out to be the most romantic couple of Bengali cinema.

Suchitra Sen played the ideal female on screen and her films with Uttam Kumar were epitome of love. The way both portrayed romance onscreen swept many off their feet.

Suchitra paired up with Uttam Kumar for'Chawa Pawa' which was directed by Yatrik. The film was comic-drama which dealt with the lives of a family.
