Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes successfully defended his title at Royal Rumble, beating Kevin Owens in a thrilling ladder match. The victory, however, came at a cost, with Rhodes sustaining severe injuries during the high-stake bout in Indianapolis. The American Nightmare even failed to address the media after the event, raising concerns about his next appearance on the weekly SmackDown. Speaking at the press conference after Royal Rumble, Jackie Redmond confirmed that Rhodes suffered “multiple injuries" while fighting with Owens.
“I can’t confirm the intensity or severity of those injuries, but what I will tell you is that they are bad enough that Cody will not be addressing the media in tonight’s press conference. His in-ring status might even be up in the air as well. What I can confirm is that Cody Rhodes will still attend Friday Night SmackDown in Memphis," Redmond said, as quoted by ITR Wrestling.
