Lausanne Diamond League 2024 Javelin Throw Highlights: Neeraj Chopra Finishes Second in Switzerland With SB

Neeraj Chopra came in second at the Lausanne leg of the Diamond League 2024 with a season best throw of 89.49m.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters topped the charts with an attempt of 90.61m, while German Julian Weber came in third with a best of 87.08m.

He inches ahead of Artur, and is behind Peters and Weber with one attempt left on the day!

Artur can only throw 78.17m on his fifth throw!

Peters still tops the pack, followed by Weber and Artur in the top three positions.

Genki draws his first foul throw of the day before Yego comes up with a thro of 78.38m.

Czech Vadlejch produces hi best of the dya with an effort of 82.03m, followed by Andrian’s fourth effort of 79.11m.

Chopra’s confirmation to participate at the DL event in Switzerland comes amid talks of a possible surgery following the completion of the season as the ace thrower eyes a berth in the final of the prestigious event.

“The final treatment will be after the season ends. I will try to take care of it as much as possible and consult the doctors later,” the Tokyo 2020 Gold medallist said at a presser ahead of the Lausanne event!

Neeraj, who claimed the nation’s only silver medal at the recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024 will be in competitive action for the first time since his heroics at the French Capital City.

Neeraj Chopra stands fourth in the season’s rankings, following his second-place finish at Doha.

The star from Khandra will look to improve his tally at the DL ahead of the final in Brussels next month.

The top six javelin throwers in the season’s standings qualify for the final in Belgium slated to be held on the 14th of September.

The meet at Lausanne is the 26-year-old Chopra’s second DL participation of the season, following his only other appearance at Doha in the ongoing campaign, where he came in second behind Czech athlete Jakub Vadlejch.
