'The Fire Inside Me Is Still Burning', Says Star Shuttler Lakshya Sen Ahead Of India Open 2025

Sen will headline the Indian contingent's chances of striking gold at the upcoming edition of the India Open, slated to get underway on the 14th of January, as the hosts appear with their largest contingent to date in the Super 750 event.

Ace Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen, who missed out on a medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 by a whisker stated that he had the hunger to come back stronger after the disappointment in France as the 23-year-old had to return home empty-handed from the quadrennial despite making it to the bronze playoff.

“Last year was a bit tough for me. Coming this close to a medal and missing out," Sen began.

    “But, for me, the fire inside of me is still burning, and I want to come back somewhere from that and do well this year and leading up to the next Olympics," he added.

    Sen will headline the Indian contingent’s chances of striking gold at the upcoming edition of the India Open, slated to get underway on the 14th of January, as the hosts appear with their largest contingent to date in the Super 750 event.

    Sen, who won the India Open which was held behind closed doors in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, promised to try and replicate his performance from his title-winning run on home soil when the nation flocks to the court in New Delhi.

    “When I won the India Open in 2022, it was not in front of the fans. So I hope I win it again in front of the amazing fans here in India," he boomed.

      The star men’s pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will spearhead the nation’s hopes in the doubles section, while PV Sindhu will shoulder the dreams of the nation in the women’s singles section.
