Galaxy AI: Will Samsung Offer ChatGPT-like Generative AI Features With Upcoming S24 Series?
The new “Galaxy AI” teaser simply reminds us that last year Samsung was quite vocal about the fact that it wants ChatGPT-like generative AI features in its flagship Galaxy range of smartphones.
Samsung is preparing to launch its next flagship range– Galaxy S24 series and interestingly, the brand has teased a new feature called Galaxy AI. Samsung officially posted a short teaser video with the title “Galaxy AI is coming" showcasing a kind of Samsung’s history of innovation in Galaxy smartphones. And that’s about it. Apart from the title, the video has no mention about what AI features we can expect on the upcoming Galaxy S24 series.
For the record, Samsung has already integrated a lot of smart software features, which you can think about as “AI features" in its existing range of smartphones over the years. Premium Samsung smartphones already have AI photography features along with a range of OneUI tweaks including the smart home IoT ecosystem, which lets users control home appliances from Samsung smartphones. And not to forget, there’s Bixby as well, which simply didn’t take off as Samsung would have expected. Now, with the “Galaxy AI is coming" teaser, Samsung could integrate generative AI features in partnership with AI tool makers, which is quite possible given Samsung’s close collaboration with Microsoft. Another instance could be that Samsung may combine all the smart things and collaboration features under the banner of Galaxy AI.

Talking about generative AI, News18 had earlier reported that Samsung is ‘closely working’ with Microsoft and Google. In an interview with News18 back in March 2023, Dr. TM Roh President & Head of Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung Electronics had said, “Samsung has already incorporated on-device AI technologies to camera, performance management and more. Also, we are actively collaborating with Microsoft, Google and other newly emerging partners to develop generative AI technologies. Going forward AI technology will play an important role to advance the smartphone industry."
“Due to ChatGPT, the general interest in AI among people has increased. We have been offering AI-based features in Samsung phones for a long time now and we are already using our AI resources to strengthen WiFi and 5G connectivity in smartphones," he added.
