Us Wants to Extend Range of Frontline Weapons As China’s Rocket Force "Takes Lead in Indo-Pacific"
US officials are considering ways to enhance the range and potency of its missiles and rockets as part of strategic manoeuvres in the Pacific to deter China. The Pentagon and Congress are deliberating over a retrofit that could boost the range of some weapons by 20% by employing more potent propellants and lighter warheads. A bill language revealed by the Senate proposes a minimum of $13 million for the production of these chemical compounds as part of the $886 billion defence bill, a move supported by both parties. This retrofit project could result in billions in additional spending. However, concerns about escalating an arms race and the risk to civilians are also being voiced.
