A shocking case has come to light in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh where, during an operation, 33 coins worth Rs 300 were recovered from the stomach of a young man. The man had gone to the hospital after complaining of stomach ache, and the doctors were surprised by what the tests revealed.
The incident occurred on January 31 in Ghumarwin city, Bilaspur, where a 33-year-old man was brought by his family to the hospital after he complained of stomach ache. The physician in charge of the case, Dr Ankush, conducted various tests, and an endoscopy revealed numerous coins in his stomach.

Dr Ankush surgically removed 33 coins, weighing 247 grams, from the man’s stomach. The doctor stated that some coins were worth Re 1 and Rs 2, while others were Rs 10. One coin was for Rs 20. The operation was performed using laparoscopy.
The surgeon said, “This was a challenging case. It was not easy to do the operation at all. The patient’s stomach had become like a balloon and there were coins everywhere. In the operation theatre, we searched for the coins through CR and then removed them." He added that the surgery took approximately three hours.
Dr Ankush explained that the young man, reportedly a resident of the Ghumarwin area, is schizophrenic.
