In a shocking incident, a Brazilian woman sustained multiple injuries after her smartphone exploded in her back pocket while she was shopping at a local grocery store. The incident occurred in Anápolis, Brazil, as she was accompanied by her husband. Suddenly, fumes started emerging from her pants, followed by flames erupting from her lower back, leaving her in panic.
CCTV footage of the terrifying moment is now circulating online, showing the woman struggling while her husband tried to extinguish the fire. The video begins with a routine shopping scene, with customers browsing through aisles. However, chaos unfolds when the woman, dressed in a white t-shirt and blue jeans, notices flames coming from her back pocket as her phone bursts into flames.

According to The Independent, she was immediately taken to Alfredo Abraão Hospital, where doctors treated her for first and second-degree burns on her hand, forearm, back, and buttocks. Reports indicate that her phone was a Motorola Moto E32, which was less than a year old.
Her husband, Mateus Lima, told the local media that the incident had left his wife deeply traumatised.
The video has sparked widespread discussion online, with many users warning about the dangers of carrying phones in back pockets. One X user commented, “Never put phones there. It’s unhealthy. Experts warned us." Others shared fire safety tips, with one writing, “SCARY!! Stop. Drop. And roll. She must have missed the day the firemen stopped at her school to teach fire safety."

It is not the first time a cell phone explosion took place. In December last year, a 20-year-old woman from Bichuni village in the Salooni region of Himachal Pradesh, lost her life after a mobile phone explosion caused severe injuries.
