Children are often seen keeping their gifts safe. Most of them tend to keep their favourite things hidden from everyone and do not like to share them. But sometimes children forget about these precious objects over time. A similar incident happened in the UK, when an 8-year-old girl was given a precious gift by her parents and was asked to keep it safe, but after many years she couldn’t find it. Later, she passed away and the gift was found by her daughter.

According to reports, Vera Petchell, a resident of Leeds, England, was gifted chocolate by her father in 1935. Vera was only 8 years old at the time. His father had gifted a special chocolate to her, which was made on the occasion of the silver jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary. When the father gave her the chocolate, he asked Vera to not consume it but rather save it, as it was a very special one and would become very valuable in the future.

But then her children and grandchildren cleaned her room, where they found this chocolate. The woman had put the chocolate bar in a toffee tin box and kept it inside a drawer on her bed.

One of Vera’s four children, Nadine McCafferty, who herself is 71 years old, revealed that when her mother remembered about the chocolate, she asked everyone to search in their house. She also added that her mother was quite upset about it. When the box was not found, they thought that perhaps someone might have thrown it out by mistake. Nadine added that she felt bad that her mother would not know that her hidden chocolate had been found after almost 86 years.
