The panicked mother immediately asked her husband if anyone was in the child’s room. He said no. She rushed to the room, only to realise the voice was coming from the CCTV camera, which appeared to be speaking to the child. Terrified, the mother quickly disconnected the camera and discarded it.
It later emerged that for the past four days, a voice had been speaking to the child through the camera. The family members had assumed it was just the TV or some other sound. Eventually, the mother discovered the cause: the Wi-Fi camera’s security was not as robust as she thought, it was vulnerable to being hacked or breached by anyone.
